Can Uneven Floors Be Fixed Without Replacing Them?
Yes. In most cases, the flooring itself doesn't need to be replaced. Once the foundation or joists causing the slope are stabilized and leveled, the existing floor is restored to level along with it.
Is a Sloping Floor Always a Foundation Problem?
No. A localized dip is often caused by sagging or damaged floor joists in a crawl space, which is a separate repair from foundation settlement. A free inspection determines which one you're dealing with.
How Much Slope in a Floor Is Considered Normal?
Older homes commonly have a slight, gradual slope that's not a structural concern. Generally, a slope greater than about an inch over 20 feet, or one that's clearly gotten worse, is worth having inspected.
